Tesla has announced to that it is making all Service Information free to subscribers.

The announcement was made to the National Automotive Service Task Force (NASTF) which provides a platform for access to automaker service and repair information and tools. Based in the U.S. but with strong Canadian participation, the organization acts as a liaison between automakers and aftermarket service professionals.

According to NASTF “In a recent meeting, Tesla responded to requests for more scan tool features for earlier vehicles in ToolBox3 by saying that this is their primary focus and that they welcome input from NASTF members on features they would like to see or problems they encounter.”

Indie Garage has confirmed that Canadian Tesla Service Information subscriptions (Option 1) are now at no charge.

This includes:

  • Service Manual, Parts Manual, and Body Repair
  • Tooling Catalog and Wiring Diagrams
  • Service Bulletins
  • Labour Codes and Times

Diagnostic Software subscriptions (Option 2) continue to be available for a fee. These are at a cost of $645 CAD for 30 days, or $3860 CAD for 365 days.

This subscription includes:

  • Toolbox 3 Diagnostic Software
  • Remote Diagnostics
  • Standalone HV Battery Shipping Evaluation Tool (Model S, 3, X, Y)

To facilitate information exchange, NASTF recommends filing a Service Information Request (SIR) that NASTF can share the vehicle information and technicians contact information with the Tesla engineering team.

Original ToolBox 2 functionality is being added to ToolBox 3 on a regular basis.

NASTF and Tesla are also continuing to discuss participating in SDRM to facilitate security access components, says NASTF.
