The Pro-Cut X1 HD on-truck brake lathe is helping heavy-duty service providers increase efficiency, reduce vehicle downtime and improve productivity by helping make brake rotor resurfacing faster, easier and more cost-effective.
“Heavy-duty service providers are always looking for ways to improve productivity while minimizing vehicle downtime,” said Geoff Womer, manager, X1 HD business development, North America for Pro-Cut. “The X1 HD allows technicians to machine rotors on the vehicle quickly and accurately, eliminating unnecessary rotor replacement and significantly reducing labor time. It gives shops the confidence to take on larger brake jobs while delivering exceptional results for their customers.”
Designed specifically for shops servicing trucks, trailers and commercial vehicles, the Pro-Cut X1 HD gives technicians the power and precision needed to tackle the industry’s most demanding brake service applications. By resurfacing rotors directly on the vehicle without removing them from the hub, the X1 HD eliminates hours of labor while delivering precise, OEM-quality results. The X1 HD significantly reduces downtime for fleet operators and helps reduce potential lifting injuries for technicians as they do not have to remove a hub and rotor assembly which weighs well over 100 pounds.
Powered by a robust 48-volt DC variable-speed motor, the Pro-Cut X1 HD delivers the torque required to machine the largest commercial vehicle axles. Its low-range gearbox, adjustable tool arms and 190 mm feed screw enable technicians to match-machine some of the industry’s largest brake rotors with exceptional accuracy. Separate speed and feed controls provide precise operation across a wide range of heavy-duty applications.
The latest generation of the Pro-Cut X1 HD features upgraded cutting arms and precision cutting tips that provide greater stability, improved control and smoother rotor finishes, even on the toughest heavy-duty applications.
“Heavy-duty brake systems often include multiple rotors, with replacement parts costing hundreds of dollars each and requiring hours of labor to install,” said Womer. “Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) inspections consistently identify brake systems and defective brake violations as the leading cause of mechanical out-of-service citations. In some applications, replacing a single rotor can take as long as six hours. “The Pro-Cut X1 HD machines a rotor in around 30 minutes, allowing shops to restore brake performance while avoiding the expense of replacement components.”
