Ontario event focuses on impact of EVs and telematics

by | Feb 9, 2018 | 0 comments

With the rise of electric cars and telematics, automotive service providers may experience significant reductions in vehicle service and maintenance volume.

Cars equipped with telematics give OEMs the ability to connect wirelessly to vehicles in order to send and receive information.

Car owners could have fewer options of where they take their car to be serviced and a free and competitive auto care marketplace could be threatened.

Electric vehicles and telematics could drastically change the landscape for the aftermarket.

The Automotive Industries Association of Canada Knowledge Exchange Series Ontario, presented in partnership with the Automotive Aftermarket Retailers of Ontario, will:

  • Address the impact of technological disruption on aftermarket businesses,
  • Explore technical and regulatory issues related to the deployment of connected and autonomous vehicles,
  • Discuss the battle of data ownership and the dilemma the aftermarket faces surrounding access to vehicle data, and
  •  Address the shortfall of automotive technicians equipped to handle connected and autonomous vehicles and the need for digital skills

The event is scheduled for March 28, 2018 at The Bellagio Event Space, 8540 Jane St., Concord, ON L4K 5A9.

Registration is $199 per person (plus tax).
