The board of Support Ontario Youth (SOY) announces that Melanie Winter will be the interim Executive Director starting on June 1, 2023.

Melanie joined the SOY team with over 20 years of experience in the industrial and manufacturing sector. As the daughter of an automotive service technician and high-school transportation teacher, she had a unique insight into her role as the program director for the industrial and motive power trades.

In her position with SOY, Melanie has made great strides in the effort to help more apprentices, employers, and industry partners – with an emphasis on bringing stakeholders together to find creative solutions to alleviate the skilled trades shortage.

“I am honoured to step into this new role and am excited to continue to work with a great team to build upon our successes to date. I firmly believe that it is our responsibility to ensure that all Ontarians have access to quality training and employment opportunities, and I’m committed to doing just that,” says Winter.

Melanie has served as an exemplary member of the SOY team and has the experience, passion, and drive to lead the organization during this transition period.
