Goodyear introduces new tires, tire size offerings

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company has introduced three new tires: Eagle Exhilarate ultra-high-performance tire; the WinterCommand mid-tier offering; and expanded tire size offering for the Goodyear Wrangler Fortitude HT for commercial uses.

Eagle Exhilarate

The all-new Eagle Exhilarate will offer outstanding traction and handling for faster acceleration, precise steering and the ultimate in control, outpacing its segment in wet handling, wet braking and wet cornering grip.  

“With its leading-edge technology and superior performance in wet conditions, the Exhilarate showcases the overall credentials of the entire Eagle line of Goodyear products,” said Mike Dwyer, Goodyear’s chief customer officer, North America consumer.

A new built-in wear gauge tool and a high performing tread compound are just two of the features of Goodyear’s newest ultra-high-performance all-season product.

The Eagle Exhilarate is the result of more than three years of research and testing and will be offered in 36 W or Y speed rated sizes. Targeting a passionate, well informed consumer, the Exhilarate features a bold appearance style that matches the vehicles that this consumer demographic drives.

The Exhilarate wear gauge tool is strategically placed in eight locations around the tire, enabling consumers to easily measure both tread depth and vehicle alignment.

Additional features of the Eagle Exhilarate include:

  • ActiveGrip Technology for exceptional traction for performance handling;
  • ActiveBraking Technology promoting shorter braking distances on wet and dry surfaces;
  • ActiveStrength Technology for confident handling with a strong lightweight construction; and,
  • A new, all-season tread compound featuring an optimized combination of high-performance polymers, fortified with traction resins for superior handling and traction in wet, dry and snow conditions.

The Eagle Exhilarate is the replacement for the Eagle F1 Asymmetric All-Season and will be available starting in April 2019. Potential popular vehicle fitments include the Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro, BMW 3-Series, Porsche Cayman, Dodge Challenger, Audi A6, Cadillac CTS, BMW 5-Series, Mazda 6, Porsche Cayenne, Mercedes E-Class, Lexus LC.

WinterCommand

Building on over a century of winter product expertise, The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company has introduced the WinterCommand, a mid-tier winter tire featuring 54 sizes and studding capability.

The WinterCommand will help consumers deal with ice, snow and winter conditions and comes with the coveted three-peak mountain snowflake designation, backed up by a proven winter tread compound, specialized winter tread patterns and full depth zig-zag sipes.  

The expanded size offerings will allow the tire to fit passenger cars, CUVs, SUVs and light trucks in a Q, S or T speed rating. The tire will also feature three tread pattern variations that are designed to be paired with specific vehicle types for optimal, customized performance.

Available in March 2019, the WinterCommand offers a consistent and confident grip at low temperatures. With enhanced snow and ice grip throughout the life of the tire, the

WinterCommand’s tread patterns feature multiple biting edges designed for starting and stopping power on snow covered roads, for enhanced traction in winter driving conditions. 

Goodyear Wrangler Fortitude HT

Responding to the growing demand of cargo vans used by small businesses, big businesses and companies that deliver packages “the last mile,” The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company has expanded the size offerings of the Goodyear Wrangler Fortitude HT. 

With more than 600,000 full-size cargo vans sold over the past two years, the Wrangler Fortitude HT is a rugged tire that is perfectly suited for this changing market segment and its growing business demands.

“We listened to customer feedback and saw an opportunity to meet increasing demand,” said Mike Dwyer, Goodyear’s chief customer officer, North America consumer.

A long-lasting tire for a wide variety of vehicles, the Wrangler Fortitude HT, with new commercial service radial (C-type) sizes, handles variable loads and maintains performance under stress. 

With an optimized tread design, tough tread compound, full-depth sipes and wide circumferential grooves, the Wrangler Fortitude HT helps reduce road noise, provides uniform wear and long tread life, and helps provide excellent wet traction. It also features many biting edges that enhance traction in the snow.

Its current line of 35 SUV/CUV and light truck sizes is expanding with three C-type sizes, including the popular 235/65R16C and 10 heavy-duty LT sizes, for a total of 48 sizes.

Some vehicle fitments for the Wrangler Fortitude HT include Ford Transit, Ram ProMaster, Chevrolet Express, Mercedes Sprinter, Nissan NV3500, Ford F150/F250/F350 and Chevrolet Silverado 1500/2500/3500, among others.
