EnerSys has announced the availability of its ODYSSEY Performance Series Group 47 and 96R batteries.
The ODYSSEY Performance Series Group 47 battery provides 650 Cold Cranking Amps (CCA). It is designed for use in Chevrolet, GMC, Volkswagen, Mini models and many other vehicle models introduced over the last 10 years. The ODYSSEY Performance Series Group 96R battery provides 600 CCA and is designed for a range of vehicles, including Ford and Chevrolet.
Fitment for the ODYSSEY Performance Series Group 47 and Group 96R batteries can be checked online at https://www.odysseybattery.com/Battery_Search.aspx.
Both batteries feature Thin Plate Pure Lead (TPPL) technology, as well as Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) separators that hold the electrolyte in place to prevent spills, even when installed on their sides.
“As the latest additions to the ODYSSEY battery line, the Performance Series Group 47 and 96R batteries are an excellent choice for today’s higher electrical demand vehicles,” said Alan Kohler, marketing manager at EnerSys. “Add in the numerous benefits of TPPL technology, including longer service life, greater reliability and deep-cycle capabilities, and customers have a solution to their vehicle’s high performance needs.”
TPPL technology is applied to the manufacturing of flat plates made of 99 percent pure lead, not lead alloy. These pure lead plates can be made thinner, enabling more plates to fit in the same space, increasing the plate surface area and therefore increasing the power capabilities. ODYSSEY batteries feature a three- to 10-year service life and two-year storage life at 77°F (25°C). They are vibration resistant, classified as “non-spillable” by the U.S. Department of Transportation and include a limited three-year full replacement warranty.
