SEMA 2025: Performance Innovation and a Fiesta ST

As someone building a Ford Fiesta ST, I couldn’t help but feel a mix of pride and nostalgia.

Attending SEMA this year reminded me why the show remains the industry’s benchmark for innovation and energy.

My first stop was Toyo Tires, where I checked out several project vehicles — street trucks that had been supercharged, lowered, and kitted out with performance upgrades.

Inside the Performance Pavilion, I spent time with the team from Turbosmart, learning about their new 2025 blow-off valves and turbo releases.

I was particularly interested since my own Fiesta ST project vehicle at home runs a Turbosmart blow-off valve and wastegate. Talking to their reps gave me valuable insight into how their latest tech could enhance our setup.

I also spent time with Ford Performance, soon to be rebranded as Ford Racing—though marketing staff hinted that the change might take longer than planned.

The booth was all about crate engines and performance hardware, with displays ranging from 300 to 700 horsepower. The Coyote engine was a highlight, alongside deconstructed components showing Ford’s engineering depth.

The Fiesta ST and Focus ST have both been retired, leaving performance enthusiasts in limbo. Even Ford’s reps said they were disappointed to see the nameplate go, echoing feedback from other fans.

Still, I’m hopeful the Fiesta might make a return—just as other automakers have revived beloved performance models.

Overall, SEMA 2025 felt as vast and inspiring as ever—packed with vendors, though perhaps a bit lighter on attendees early in the week. The show remains the best place to see where the performance aftermarket is heading, from emerging brands in the first-time exhibitor pavilion to the latest in turbo and tuning tech.

I’ll definitely be back next year to see how those trends evolve.
